I completed my medical degree at The University of Auckland, New Zealand, in 2004. I joined the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) in 2007 when I was working as a doctor in the ICU department at RPA Hospital in Sydney. My anaesthetic training was undertaken in both Australia and internationally. I completed my final exams with ANZCA in 2012 before moving permanently to the Gold Coast.  I am accredited at all the major Private Hospitals on the Gold Coast.  I also work regularly at The Tweed Public Hospital where I assist in the supervision and training of new anaesthetists. In addition to full-time clinical work, I also participate in the Maintenance of Professional Standards Program from ANZCA.

Having grown up in Brisbane, I studied medicine at the University of Queensland and graduated in 2006. I then worked as a junior doctor for 2 years at Gold Coast Hospital, before being accepted into specialist anaesthetic training. I completed the required five years of specialist training at public hospitals throughout south east Queensland and northern New South Wales. Since obtaining my Fellowship of ANZCA (Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists) in February 2017, I now work as a specialist anaesthetist in public practice at Tweed Hospital, and privately with Coast Anaesthesia. I am accredited to work at most private hospitals and day surgeries on the Gold Coast.

I maintain my professional standards through participation in the College’s Continuing Professional Development program, attendance and involvement at Quality Assurance meetings, and regular attendance at workshops and conferences.

As your anaesthetist, my role is to see you safely through surgery, and manage your pain relief afterwards. I will stay with you from the time of your anaesthetic, until you arrive in the recovery room. My aim is for you to experience as little pain and discomfort as possible.

My Professional History

Following completion of my medical degree I trained in Anaesthesia at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and received my specialist qualification from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. I completed a fellowship year with the Royal Flying Doctor Service based in the Kimberly region in Western Australia and then moved to the New South Wales north coast to practice.

I am currently accredited at several public and private hospitals in NSW and QLD.

My goal is to deliver the safest anaesthetic for your operation and minimise your discomfort in the ensuing hours to days.

Following completion of my medical degree at the University of Queensland in 1995, I received my specialist qualification from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2003. My Anaesthesia training was completed in Australia; in Queensland and Western Australia. I undertook my final year of anaesthesia training (fellowship year) at the Gold Coast Hospital in Southport. Since 2004, I have worked as a Specialist Anaesthetist in public and private hospitals on the Gold Coast. In 2010, I worked at Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, Canada to complete a Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship. My practice involves providing anaesthesia for both children and adults requiring a wide variety of procedures in public and private hospitals on the Gold Coast. I have also worked part time at Queensland Children’s Hospital since 2015. I participate in the Continuing Professional Development Program from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, which ensures I keep my knowledge and skills up to date with current practices.

My name is Dr Peter Correa. I look forward to being your Anaesthetist for your upcoming procedure.

I received my medical degree from the Flinders University of South Australia in the year 2000. Prior to Anaesthetic training I worked in Northern Territory, Cairns, the UK and later travelled to West Africa with Medecins Sans Frontiers. I completed a Fellowship in General Practice in the Northern NSW in 2008. It was in my rural practice that I became interested in Anaesthetics and decided to pursue it as a specialty.

Anaesthesia is now the focus of my practice and my specialist qualification was obtained through the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2015. I am accredited as a specialist Anaesthetist at the Tweed Heads Hospital plus all the major private hospitals in the Gold Coast area.

I have special interest in medical education, research and post-operative pain management and I am senior lecturer at Griffith University. I am actively involved in regular professional development and quality assurance activities through the Australian and New Zealand College of Anesthetists.

I am based on the Southern-end of the Gold Coast and have a young family of four boys. I see myself being part of the community for some years to come.

I graduated from Aberdeen University, Scotland in 1996 (MBChB).

I began my anaesthetic career in Aberdeen and completed 3 years training there, during that time I was successful in gaining my UK fellowship in Anaesthesia (FRCA 2000).

I relocated to Sydney in 2000 and completed my anaesthetic training at the Prince of Wales hospital, Randwick.

I gained my Australian specialist qualification in 2006 (FRCA).

Since 2008 I have been working as a VMO specialist in Anaesthesia in Northern NSW and the Gold Coast.

I am accredited at several public and private hospitals in Northern NSW and Queensland.

Following this I undertook my residency training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane where I rotated through many medical specialities. In 2011, I started my first anaesthetic training job at Redlands hospital. In 2016, I received my specialist qualification from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetist. Since finishing my specialisation, I have worked as a specialist anaesthetist on the Gold Coast – in both private and public hospitals. I graduated from my medical degree at the University of Queensland in 2010, following completion of a Biomedical Science Degree and Graduate Diploma in Clinical Microbiology. Having developed a special interest in regional anaesthesia early in my anaesthetic training, I went on to complete a Fellowship in Regional Anaesthesia at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and have subsequently presented at ANZCA meetings. My focus on clinical audit and ongoing research in the field of Regional Anaesthesia continues to enhance my practice. I completed my Medical Degree at the University of Queensland in 1999. Following my Residency at the Gold Coast Hospital, I spent the next five years working as an Intensive Care Doctor on the Gold Coast. During this time I gained invaluable knowledge and skills in resuscitation and multiorgan support, whilst caring for critically ill patients.

With this foundation of experience, I underwent specialty training in Anaesthetics. I received my specialist qualification from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2011. I have both public and private appointments on the Gold Coast.

I am dedicated to providing a high level of safe and quality anaesthesia with effective postoperative pain control. My aim is to provide my patients a pleasant experience throughout the perioperative period.

My name is Dr Nicola Doogan and I will be your anaesthetist for your upcoming procedure. In 2005 I completed a Bachelor of Medical Science/ Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of NSW in Sydney. Upon completion of this combined degree I worked as a resident medical officer at the Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick. In these years I gained a broad range of experience in both adult and paediatric critical care medicine.

In 2010 I began training to be an Anaesthetist at the Prince of Wales and Sydney Children’s Hospital. During these years I worked at a number of hospitals around NSW including St George Hospital in Kogarah where I completed a fellowship year. In January 2015 I obtained my specialist qualification from ANZCA (FANZCA). For the following 2 years I worked as a specialist anaesthetist in Sydney.

I relocated to the Gold Coast in 2017 and began working as a specialist at The Tweed and Murwillumbah Public Hospitals. I am currently accredited at several public hospitals in NSW and Qld.

My aim is to provide high quality and safe anaesthesia for you during your surgery and to minimize the pain and discomfort at much as possible afterwards.

These years gave me a wide range of experience in most medical fields, but it was anaesthesia that peaked my interest. I am a Specialist Anaesthetist who works with each patient to ensure the best possible outcomes. Graduating with a medical degree from Griffith University on the Gold Coast in 2009, I began training at the Gold Coast Hospital. I developed an interest in acute care specialties and completed 12 months of intensive care training prior to beginning in anaesthetics. My specialty training was completed throughout southeast Queensland and Northern NSW. I am a specialist anaesthetist born and raised in Queensland. Following the completion of my medical degree at the University of Queensland, I undertook postgraduate training in anaesthesia at a variety of hospitals throughout the state and interstate.  I attained a specialist qualification from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and was awarded the Tess Crammond Prize for Research that year.  In 2004 I relocated back to the Gold Coast for a staff specialist position for 18 months at the Gold Coast Hospital where I undertook further training to attain a postgraduate diploma in perioperative and critical care echocardiography through the University of Melbourne.

Since then, I have been appointed as a visiting anaesthetist to all major private and public hospitals on the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads.  I am the supervisor of training in anaesthesia at The Tweed Hospital which involves the teaching and supervision of training anaesthetists with ANZCA.  I also participate in the ANZCA continuing professional development programme and I am a member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA) and the Australian Medical Association (AMA).

I graduated from Griffith University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery. Staying local, I spent my 3 years as a junior doctor within South-East Queensland, with a focus on critical care. Following this, I obtained my FANZCA in 2019 after 5 years of specialist training with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. During this time, I also completed a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education from Flinders University. I work as a specialist anaesthetist on the Gold Coast, accredited at all the major public and private hospitals. I actively participate in continuing professional development with ANZCA.

My Professional History

In 2005 I completed my Medical Degree at the University of New South Wales. Following this I spent three years gaining further experience in a range of specialities including emergency medicine and general surgery. 

I received my specialist qualification from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2013. This was awarded after more than five years training in anaesthesia, intensive care and pre-hospital medicine throughout metropolitan Sydney and the Tweed and Gold Coast region.

Since then I have been working as a specialist anaesthetist at The Tweed Hospital and all of the major private hospitals on the Gold Coast. I am currently the Director of Anaesthetics at Murwillumbah Hospital, and actively participate in the training of our future anaesthetists. I have a special interest in onco-anaesthesia and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery pathways for relevant patients.

I work with a number of excellent surgeons in many areas including Gastrointestinal, Orthopaedic, Ear nose and throat and gynaecological surgery. As a Private Anaesthetist I am accredited at all of the major Private Hospitals and Day Procedure Centres located on both the Gold and Tweed Coasts.
