My Professional History
My name is Dr Penny Jones and I will be your anaesthetist for your upcoming
procedure. Please be reassured that Australian anaesthetists have world class
training in anaesthesia, pain control, resuscitation, intensive care and managing
medical emergencies, so there is no safer place in the world to have an
anaesthetic than in Australia.
Following completion of my medical degree at the University of Queensland in
1998, I received my specialist qualification from the Australian and New Zealand
College of Anaesthetists in 2008. My Anaesthesia training was completed both in
the UK and Queensland, ending in a fellowship year at the Gold Coast Hospital in
Southport. On completion of my Specialist training, I worked as a Staff Specialist
at Gold Coast Hospital for 3 years. I then moved into private practice as a member
of the Coast Anaesthesia Group which covers all private hospitals across the Gold
Coast, and I continue regular public sessions as a VMO at The Tweed Hospital.
I live locally with my husband and 3 children. I am a regular participant in the
Maintenance of Professional Standards Program from the College of
Anaesthetists.
My aim is to alleviate any concerns you may have prior to your procedure & to
ensure your experience is a positive one with as little discomfort as possible after
the procedure. You have every right to ask questions, to receive
information, and to participate in choosing the care you will
receive. Asking questions and receiving information are the basis
of giving informed consent for any medical procedure, including
anaesthesia.
